BRAMPTON – Over the past weekend (11-12 June 2022), the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Association hosted the 2022 Nationals Tournament, and two of Kilian Academy’s Top BJJ athletes participated in the tournament.

The twin brothers Sean and Alec Wildeboer competed at Nationals for the first time in the blue belt division and both were able to secure bronze medals. “Last year, Sean and Alec were crowned Canadian Champions in their respective weight class in the white belt division. However, the blue belt division is a tougher division with fewer unforced errors.” Stated Abrie Kilian, Program Director at Kilian Academy.

Sean was awarded his blue belt on the 19th of March 2022 with Alec awaiting his invitation for his blue belt demo, both new at competing at blue belt. Kilian added that both Sean and Alec need time to acclimatize to the new division before they will continue their success at competing in BJJ, however, securing bronze in their first attempt at Nationals, is noteworthy.

With the growth of BJJ in Grey-Bruce County, Kilian Academy recently relocated to Shallow Lake to provide an expanded training environment to accommodate more athletes. The Academy was established in Canada in early 2019 and has grown into one of Grey-Bruce County's largest martial arts training facilities.
