TORONTO – Saturday, the 20th of November, saw the 2021 ASG Toronto Open hosted by Extreme Couture in Toronto. Two of Kilian Academy elite competitors were in action.

Brad Robertson, from Owen Sound, competed in his maiden Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament and secured gold. “‘Iceman’ showed at 48 years of age that he still has what it takes to be champion and did so with absolute style.” Stated Abrie Kilian, Program Director at Kilian Academy. Robertson, a previous Shito-Ryu Itosu Kai National Karate Champion under the guidance of Sensei John Kirby and Bill Farrar, fought in a bracket populated with athletes 30 years of age and older and took first place.

After training for only 10 months, Scott Dixon competed in the lightweight category and made his ASG Toronto Debut on Saturday. Dixon lost both his fights with points alone, frustrating his opponents till the very end, preventing them from submitting him. “It is simply a matter of time before Scott will be a champion. There are very few athletes at the Academy that trains as hard as Scotty. As Scotty becomes acclimated at competing, he will become a force to be reckoned with.” Stated Kilian.

Kilian Academy has continued its success at competing in BJJ throughout Canada in 2021, marching strong as one of Ontario’s leading BJJ academies.
